Let’s talk about a topic that is near and dear to my heart. Games! While I am partial to PC games, I get a kick out of trying out all kinds of games. I’m getting old, so I’ve played most of the games in this picture. I still play World of Warcraft to this day. I played Everquest before that and now I am waiting for the next huge MMO to come out. Since Everquest was the first real gaming experience I encountered, it seems only fair that it be the focus of this first discussion. First starting out in a MMO, I had no idea what to expect. It was an entirely new world with a whole new set of rules. I loved the concept of magic and “buffs.” The first time I received the “SoW” buff (which makes a character run faster) was both exciting and terrifying. You see my first character was a wood elf which starts out in a tree house city. So…..I ran really fast, fell out of the city and died for the first time all on my first day! I was hooked after that, but I was a bit more careful in the trees, lol. I found an awesome guild with amazing people who were kind and generous. They educated me on how to play. I stayed with this group of people for the entire 5 years that I played the game. We all got to be friends and actually talk to one another on the now almost obsolete skype, lol. By the time I got burned out on the game I had 5 paid accounts and every character you can imagine, lol. I miss certain aspects of that particular MMO. The wonder that I felt playing it for the first time is what I miss the most. I recently discovered that my guild leader from my EQ days passed away. It was a sad day for the gaming world. EQ is now a free play game that has in game purchases, but it was a subscription game when I played it (much like WoW is). I always look forward to trying new games, but MMOs certainly hold a special place in my heart and memory.
Please let me know if you would like me to discuss other games. This topic was kind of a reminiscence of days passed, but I can always discuss game play and attributes.
