How do you know if you have a good job or not? Does the turnover at the company really tell you anything? I have been working at the same job for a while now and I have seen many people come and go. I never really thought that turnover meant that the job was good or bad before, but I am starting to wonder. Some jobs have high turnover as a regular thing, such as: food service, convenience stores and sometimes even a lot of retail. We expect that kind of thing when working in those industries. What about the service industry? I realize that right now almost all employers are hiring and looking for reliable workers, but I am not used to how quickly employers go through prospective employees. I’m not sure if that means that the employer doesn’t know what they really need for the position or if they are simply getting quantity as opposed to quality. How much turnover says that this is a good/bad place to work? I’d say that in the last 2 years 35-50 people have come and gone. Don’t get me wrong…..I like my job, but how do I know that it is a secure position, when I keep seeing people leave. This week alone we have lost 2 people. How much is too much? Should I be concerned? Just some food for thought!
